Welcome to Studio75.

Studio75 began in London as a shared act of artistic commitment by Gillian McIver and Nazir Tanbouli: an artist-run gallery and screening room created from the desire to make space for conversation, experimentation, and exchange. Situated in Shoreditch, East London, at a moment when the area was alive with creative energy, Studio75 grew into more than a venue. It became a place where artists, filmmakers, writers, and audiences could meet informally, test ideas, and experience work in a direct and generous setting.

Studio75 London continued until the building was eventually demolished as part of the wider regeneration of East London, a change that marked the end of a particular chapter in the area’s cultural life. Looking back, its significance lies not only in the scale of its activity—30 exhibiting artists and 22 filmmakers, along with exhibitions, screenings, artist exchanges, mini-lectures, debates, mini-residencies, and a large-scale mural project—but in the spirit of openness that shaped it. The programme drew attention from London and international media during the 2012 Olympics, and Studio75 was awarded the University of the Arts London’s 2012 Creative Enterprise Award for Most Enterprising Project. Yet its most lasting value was perhaps the community it gathered, and the sense that, for a time, an ordinary building in Shoreditch could become an unusually vivid meeting point for art, film, and shared possibility.
